Problem/Challenge

A supplier of long standing to archery equipment manufacturers approached APV for assistance in developing an engineered coating for feather flukes. The coating had to cover water-proof turkey feather flukes, be abrasion resistant, accept a camouflage colored paint, and be able withstand rugged use while delivering superior performance to the archer.

Solution

APV experimented and devised a resin-based coating that would cover the waterproof turkey feather flukes in green, gray or tan colors. APV then developed an ink solution that would allow the manufacturer to paint black stripes on each fluke.

Results

The feather fluke manufacturer is now generating over 20,000 flukes per day thanks to the APV engineered solution, which is performing well in the field. Feedback from archers is very positive.

Timing

This challenge was met by APV chemists in just two weeks.
