Position Summary:

The candidate should be able to develop coating solutions to unique formulation guidelines as requested by the customer’s specifications and application methods. They must conduct and control research and investigations based on specifications. They must formulate coatings in accordance with specifications to produce a market-viable finished product.

The candidate should exhibit the following leadership qualities to succeed in this position:

• Ability to work well within the laboratory environment within cross-functional teams.
  
• Demonstrate excellent research practices including experimental design.
  
• Ability to process challenges analytically to develop a solution to fit a customer’s requirement in a timely manner.
  
• Ability to network with vendor, sales, and technical staff in order to accrue knowledge and apply best practices across the organization.
  
• Willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to a variety of technical areas.
  
• Willingness and ability to travel when necessary.
  
• Ability to interact with clients and communicate their work in an effective and professional manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Masters degree a plus.
  
• 5 years minimum experience in research and coating formulation in a corporate R&D Laboratory with a proven track record of success.
  
• Working technical knowledge of polymer chemistry useful for formulating durable coatings.
  
• Knowledge of test and measuring equipment and methods.
  
• Experience with PVDF, Urethane, and Epoxy formulation a plus.
