Advances for the Architectural Industry
08-11-2009 - Akron, OH - As demand increases within the architectural industry for more energy efficient products, APV has been researching and developing low-e coatings suited for interior metal window and door components.
The objective is to engineer a product that will exhibit both a very low emissitivity reading and a lower degree of thermal processing. The coating will facilitate the metal frame’s energy efficiency by absorbing indoor air, yet still maintain the metal’s properties on the exterior and reflect outdoor air. The result? A frame that is warm to the touch in winter and cool to the touch in summer. This technology will allow manufacturers and consumers to realize significant energy savings.
With windows specifically, the majority of energy loss, is actually through the framework- not the glass. Superior energy conservation will be attained with low E components in conjunction with APV’s Low E- Coatings. Upon completion of this new product development, it will be available for residential and commercial applications targeting the new construction and retrofit markets.
