APV's Baked Enamels are coatings that are cured by an external heat source such as an oven or infrared unit. Thermal energy initiates the crosslinking of internal catalysts, allowing the enamel to cure to near peak performance immediately after cool down. This eliminates handling delays associated with air dry enamels. Many air dry coatings are “forced dry” with the use of heat, but are not considered a baked enamel unless the crosslinking process occurs.
Typically, baked enamels are used by equipment manufacturers. The use of these enamels in a production process results in a superior, durable coating, regardless of weather or environmental conditions.
The enamels are easily adaptable to customer specifications and can be formulated to varying bake times and temperatures. Because of the unique nature of the product, most are custom formulated. In rare instances, however, existing formulations can be used.
