APV's VYNGUARD™ is a high performance solvent-based fluoropolymer coating that is a transparent, stain resistant, and heat sealable barrier coating for flexible vinyl. This coating stops the migration of plasticizer from flexible vinyl.

Flexible vinyl film with a 5 micron 1.2 mil coating of VYNGUARD will retain its gloss level and physical properties during long term outdoor exposure. VYNGUARD™ is designed to cope with humidity and to resist the attack of flora and fauna. VYNGUARD™ is available in an EPA compliant version with a VOC of 1.64 lb/gallon. It is also available in MEK.

VYNGUARD™ FOR COOL ROOFING

APV offers a solution to addressing the performance requirements for Cool Roofs under Title 24 legislation. Our high performance fluoropolymer coatings provide superior weathering and self-cleaning properties to help maintain the initial properties of the PVC.

The coating is a true barrier for plasticizer and thus blocks all migration, trapping the plasticizer in the membrane. This property keeps the surface of the PVC clean and free from the typical mold and bacterial growth that attack and eat the plasticizer. These properties all help to extend the usable life of the PVC and make it resistant to typical discoloration.

When applied to PVC roofing material, VYNGUARD™ is specifically engineered to help enable the membrane to meet and exceed the requirements for thermal emittance and solar reflectance. It is available as a clear topcoat, but can also be pigmented using premium outdoor grade pigments for custom colors. A printing ink system is also available utilizing the same technology for extended outdoor weatherability.
