Cure Indicator Temperature Sensitive Ink

Cure Indicator Temperature-Sensitive Ink is a solvent-based ink designed to provide indication when a rubber compound has reached a specified cure temperature. It is applied by gravity-feed through a Beugler® striping wheel or offset printer to differing rubber substrates. It can also be engineered for different application transfers.

A continuous ink stripe of a selected width is laid down on a hot extruded hose or tube. When the uncured product is wound onto spools to be steam-cured in an autoclave, the red pigment in the ink changes to white to indicate that the marked rubber has reached the desired cure temperature. The higher the temperature, the quicker the change of color, as this process is time-temperature dependent.

APV offers two formulations that differ in cure temperature. For the D-2624, the color change is activated when the temperature is sustained for 18 minutes at approximately 260°F (127°C) or above. For the D-2196, the color change is activated when the temperature is sustained for 25 minutes at approximately 300°F (148°C) or above.
