BUILDINGS Magazine Selects APV Engineered Coatings Product for Elite Group
BUILDINGS Magazine, the leading national publication serving the professional facility management industry, has selected NeverFade® Exterior Coating from APV Engineered Coatings as recipient of its 2017 Money-Saving Products award.
The magazine’s editorial staff chose NeverFade® Exterior Coating with Kynar Aquatec® resin for its cost-savings potential and relevance to commercial building management.
The product is a member of an elite group of 41 products showcased in the June 2017 issue of BUILDINGS and online at www.BUILDINGS.com. Finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy efficiency, water savings, and maintenance.

NeverFade® Exterior Coatings are a line of water-based, low-VOC exterior coating for metal, concrete, stucco, masonry and vinyl siding applications. The coatings contain Kynar Aquatec®, a PVDF resin known as a tough, engineering thermoplastic that maintains high stability when exposed to harsh thermal, chemical and ultraviolet environments. They resist fading, dirt, staining, algae, mold, fungal growth and corrosion. APV Engineered Coatings manufactures each batch of NeverFade® to order and custom color matches the product to the customer’s specifications.
“We are so confident in the performance of NeverFade® that we offer a 15-year warranty on fade performance,” says Brown. “This warranty is unique because it doesn’t just cover the cost of the product. It also covers labor costs.”
As an example of the money-savings potential of the NeverFade® Exterior Coating System, Brown points to Solano Community College in Vallejo, Calif. The college was able to save more than $48,000 in paint and labor costs by choosing the product to repaint its relatively new, but severely faded building. If the college had selected a premium latex exterior paint, they likely would have had to repaint every five years, at a cost of $16,000-$18,000 per paint job.
“Fifteen years is quite a long time for paint to sustain its color in the type of high UV-exposed environment we have,” said the college’s facility manager. “That longevity saves us a tremendous amount in maintenance costs and labor. And that doesn’t even take into account the ‘soft costs’ associated with the building’s appearance.”
In April, APV Engineered Coatings extended the NeverFade® product line with NeverFade® Façade Restoration for architectural metal applications. The new line consists of primer and Kynar®-based topcoat systems for use with carbon steel, stainless steel, bare aluminum and anodized aluminum in water and solvent-based formulations.
