Defect Marking Inks
Defect Marking Inks are used throughout the tire manufacturing process to denote high point, conicity, pass/fail marks and more on internal and external rubber components.
APV’s versatile Ply Marking Crayons are widely trusted throughout the tire and rubber industry. They are used at multiple stages of the tire manufacturing process, including marking raw material bales, fabric cord calendering, tread and sidewall extrusion, inner liner calendering, tire building, and final inspection.
Ply Marking Crayons are manufactured using a proprietary wax and pigment formulation that does not contaminate the rubber or cause delamination. They are suitable for marking uncured (internal) rubber surfaces—including calendered material, plies, and bead rings—as well as cured (external) rubber surfaces, such as defect areas identified during visual inspection.
Available in a variety of colors, Ply Marking Crayons are water and heat-resistant, and perform in various environments, including high temperatures and humidity. They are applied by hand, and the tips are designed to enable inspectors to effectively mark minor details. The crayons are available in standard and extra-large sizes. They can also be used for other industrial applications, including those that require marking on wet or dry surfaces as well as glass.
Ply Marking Crayons can soften and distort if stored above room temperature. Store in a cool, dry area between 50 and 75℉ (10-24℃) for a shelf life of up to five years.

Bead Marking Inks are applied to uncured bead rings during the assembly process for coding and identification purposes.
Jet Printing Ink is engineered specifically for the REA JET® Large Character Ink Jet Printer System. The ink is used for alpha-numeric identification and inventory labeling of rubber components.
